Philippines Stock Exchange - Stock Markets around the world
As a stock market for beginners guide you need to know what is happening in the other parts of the world especially the stock markets and how they operate and hence this piece being the first in the series on the world stock exchanges.
The Philippines stock exchange is located in the city of Makati city as well as the Pasig city. The other city in the Philippines being the Olongapo and that city is not a primary financial district of the country.
The PSE operates for four hours daily and that is from the 9.30 till 12.30 PM
As with other stock exchanges in the world there has to be some measure to convey the ups and downs of the market and that measurement is called the index.
Philipines stock exchange has the index called as the Philippines composite index called PSEi and this was previously known as the PHISIX.
There are other eight indices which are derived from the stock prices of the companies that comprise the index and these companies are included in each of the indices based on what the primary source of revenue is for the business.
For example the PSEi All Share Index and PSEi Property Index.
As far other major east asian indices are considered the main one is the Hong Kong index called the Hang Seng. Hang Seng actually reflects the true potential of the whole East Asian economy.
